I’m sure you’ve heard of the story of the ‘Woman At The Well.’ Well if you haven’t, then here is a refresher.

Jesus of Nazareth, entered a city called Samaria, where Jacob’s Well was located.  He was wearied from his journey and sat on the well.

There was a woman of Samaria that came to draw water, and Jesus asked her to draw out some water for him to drink.

The woman responded, how is it that you being a Jew, ask of me to give you a drink, who am a woman of Samaria?  You know the Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.

So, you may be wondering, ‘Why Does the Jews Have No Dealings With The Samaritans?’

That is a great question, and I’m glad you ask, I will deal with that at another time.

Jesus answered her and said, ‘If you knew the Gift of God, and who it is that is saying unto you, Give me water to drink; You would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.’

The woman said unto him, Sir you do not have anything to draw the water with and the well is very deep, so how then will you draw that living water?

Are you greater than our Father, Jacob, which gave us the well and drank from this well himself, and his children and cattle also?

Jesus answered her, ‘Whosoever drinks this water shall thirst again, but whosoever drinks the water that I shall give him shall never thirst.  But the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.’

The woman said unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I may thirst no more, and that I will neither have to come here to draw.

Jesus said unto the woman, Go, and get your husband and come back here.

The woman, answered and said, I do not have a husband.  Jesus said unto her, yes that is correct, you do not have a husband.

In fact, you have had five husbands and the man that you are living with right now is not your husband, so you have answered rightly.

The woman said Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.

Then she began to be all holy and religious and said, ‘Our Fathers worshipped in this mountain; but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

Jesus said unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour is coming that you will neither in this mountain, nor at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

You do not know what you worship.  We know what we worship; For salvation is of the Jews.

But the hour is coming and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth, because the Father is seeking for such to worship him.

God is a Spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

The woman said, I know that the Messiah is coming, which is called Christ.  When he comes, he will tell us all things.

Jesus said unto her, I that speak with you am he.

So, the woman asks Jesus, to give her this living water, but Jesus asked her to go back home to her adultery, to the man she is playing house with and get him and then come back.

And so it is today, we go to the House of Prayer to hear the truth, but instead your Pastors and your Teachers are too afraid or too ashamed to tell you the truth because their life is just as screwed up as yours.

Jesus is that Living Water and before He gives us to drink, He is saying we are Undone or Unclean.  He is asking us to first go back to that woman, or man, or child, or sister, or brother, or relative, or neighbor that you are in an adulterated or unclean or screwed up relationship with and get them and then come back.

You can’t mix old with new or put new wine in old wine skins.  Until you come clean with all the stuff or junk in your life you can’t be clean and you will continue to thirst but not be filled.

There is an old saying, ‘Come Correct or Don’t Come at All.’  Stop trying to be so holy and religious, you hypocrite.

Jesus knows what’s in your heart.  He knows about all the filth that’s in there.  The scriptures teaches us to confess our faults then we will be clean.

The scriptures teaches us to forgive, then we will be forgiven.
